If you do want a hotel vs. a condo, the Grand Wailea is exceptional. It's pricey (at least for me), but I would stay there in a heartbeat if I could afford it! Not having a car on Maui is a mistake. Looks like the first poster gave you some good advice!

If you do want a hotel vs. a condo, the Grand Wailea is exceptional. It’s pricey (at least for me), but I would stay there in a heartbeat if I could afford it!

Not having a car on Maui is a mistake. There is a lot to see and do there and you will need a car to get to it all.

Snorkeling
Old Lahaina Town
Road to Hana
‘Iao Needle
Maui Ocean Center
etc., etc., etc…

I have not been to Maui yet…that is the next island we plan to visit. A good resource that we used while planning our vacation to Oahu was, another website that is helpful is tripadvisor.com it gives you information on what to do, where to go on the islands, etc. This website is the Maui visitors Bureau
