I would not have a timeshare for ALL the tea in China. I know three people who HAD one and they were miserable. What a mess. They got rid of them finally but all three had a loss and they were happy to take the loss.

Everybody I know that had them watched them sit idle for years and then sold them at a big loss. Even the ones that can be used at multiple places.

The best way to buy a time share is one someone else is getting rid of. It will be a lot cheaper than one from the original seller. We bought one for 1/4 of the price on ebay. Check out ebay and there are newsletters and websites where people advertise time shares they are selling. Do not buy a time share to trade. Often, you cannot get anything you want by trading. Only buy where you would want to go at a week you would want to go. Realize that you have to pay the fee every year and for the fee for some places you could get a hotel room for the week.

We have two timeshares over the past 20 years and I would most heartily advise against them. The maintenance fees are quite high, and when you get to the unit you find many things in disrepair. You will be connected with either RCI or II or some similar group which will take your unit for trade-ins so that you can use another timeshare, but when you call to exchange, there is so many variables that it becomes very difficult to get a place that you choose to go to. Subsequently you are left having to settle for somewhere you didn’t really want in the first place.
