What’s the best Island to live In Hawaii?

sabian49015 asked:

Aloha,

I’m looking for the most real Island of Hawaii to relocate. I’m a member of the Honolua Bay Coalition on Maui (from Michigan) but I can’t stand the way Maui is becoming. (I **** all of the resorts and commercialism) I want to be a productive member of society. A “Good Haole” if you believe it. I’m not into parties, drinking, drugs, or anything destructive. I just want to be simple. Live simple, work, and be simple. Pono, if you know what I mean. Please let me know what the best choice in your honest opinion would be.

Mahalo,

Corey

it depends on the way you wanna live. if you like busy, you can live on Oahu, lots of stuff to do (beaches, malls, stores, etc.) if you wanna take it easy you can go to Kauai, very “country”, laid back lifestyle.

Oahu if you want many choices. concerts, tourist activities, restaurants. But you sound like more of the Big Island type of guy. There are many areas where you can have good employment and still not feel like you are in a commercial enclave. I am afraid that the old Hawaii that I remember is a thing of the past. You can still hide from the commercialism but it will catch you sooner rather than later. Enjoy the country life while you can.

It sounds like you might fit in with the island Kauai.

Tourism is not going to go away.

If are a part of the “Honolua Bay Coalition, maybe someone you might know could help you get a job on Maui. Hawaii is definitely one of these small places where it is a lot about knowing somebody.
