The Hyatt is beautiful but a bit pricey.

The other two are in the right order as well in terms of nicest to most plain.

I’d insert the Marriott in there as well as # 1.5

I have always liked the Sheraton. It is an older hotel, but it has been renovated. The location is beautiful, set up against a large outcropping of rock into the ocean. That is what I like about it the most.

1.I’ve stayed at the Westin. They have very good service. Beautiful property. I love their pool. It is so much fun!! There restuarants have very good food. Try the bruch at the Tropicana. Good selection.

2.Haven’t stayed at the Sheraton, but I’ve walked through it numerous times. I live on Maui. There pool is nice w/slide. More simple than the other two hotels. Their luau is cool because they have a man light torches along Black Rock then dive off. They’ve had that tradition for years. Even the general manager used to jump off when he was a teen.

3.I stayed at the Hyatt to celebrate my daughter’s 1st b-day. And I have to say that they had such poor service! :(

My experience was that I ate at their restaurant for brunch with my huge family. I spent $400 on brunch. Later, some of us went up to my room to do my daughters’cake. We didn’t have anything to light the candle. So I called the front desk to see if they had matches. They said I could go to any of their restaurants and ask for some.
So, I went down to the restaurant again. The hostess was so rude!! She said they didn’t have any w/o even looking. So, I said that I checked with the front desk and they said they did. So she said, “Well, we don’t anymore. Since Kaanapali is now all nonsmoking. You can go to the convenience store”

So, I told her I just spent $400 at this restuarant. If you would mind looking. It is for my daughter’s 1st b-day.

So, she said, “you know what, just go to the convenience strore…i have something else I need to do.” And walked away.

So I checked the drawer at the hostess stand, and lo and behold there were hotel matches!!

I think service counts for a lot. Some places emphasizes it more than others. This was a special occasion for me and my family. I tried not to let the poor service put a damper on my daughter’s b-day. But no way will I ever go back there.

Aloha and I live on Maui, and all the hotels are pretty good, but you have to deal with a lot of tourists. If you want a nice remodeled condo on the ocean 5 minutes from Kaanapalli, where it is a one bedroom, fully furnished, e mail me, and I can help you. I manage the condo.Condo’s are a lot cheaper than a hotel room, and you still can use the hotels for dinner, partying, etc. My fav hotel would be the Hyatt. They have a great luau there.

I’ve stayed at both the Hyatt and the Westin Maui and I believe that both of them are excellent. The Hyatt get’s my vote for better pool area. If you have kids, the Hyatt is probably better. I don’t think you will go wrong with either one.
